A New Nano-Spotting Tool for
Reagent Delivery
05 FR GEFC 0BOI
Abstract
A French SME, specialised in nano-engineering and instrumentation, has
developed a new nano-spotting tool. It is a microsystem designed to achieve
nano-volume reagent delivery (nl or sub-nl range). The system performs
reagent deposition on most types of chip substrates (glass, membranes,
plastic and also at the bottom of microtiter plates). The company is looking
for technical cooperation or marketing agreements with research laboratories
or companies active in biotech, pharmacy, etc.
Description
A
French SME that specialises in
nano-engineering and nano-instrumentation has developed a new nano-spotting
tool. It consists in a microsystem designed to achieve reagent nano-volume
delivery from 0,5 to 1 nl. The system performs reagent deposition on most
types of chip substrates including glass, membranes, plastic, and also at
the bottom of microtiter plates.
This new product is based on micro-array contact printing technologies.
Thanks to its miniaturisation, the system integrates a micro-reservoir and a
micro-valve and it allows reproducible and homogeneous spotting of sub
nano-volume as well as good optimisation of costly reagent volumes and
experimentation time. Compatible with different protocols, it can handle
various biological solutions such as DNA, RNA, proteins, and cells. The
spotting is a new product and is targeting micro-array contact printing.
The system is designed and engineered to meet the needs of micro-array
research and testing applications to overcome users constraints, e.g.
spotting variability, cross-contamination, waste of precious samples,
limited reliability of data and applications. The system is robust, flexible
and ready for use. The nano-spotting tool covers a wide range of research
applications in genomics, proteomics, cell biology, as well as industrial
sectors.
The French company is able to provide also biochip preparation or
manufacturing services to partners needing that kind of services.
Innovative Aspects:
- Integration of nanofluidic functionalities in mm size
- Feed-through washable to avoid contamination and carryover problems which
are crucial in biological applications such as biochips
- Preservation of reagent from evaporation
Main Advantages:
- Adaptability to most commercial arrayers
- Reliability, spotting performance and precision
- Easy to use and flexible
- Compatibility with most biological reagents and process
