A Swiss research institute provides a mirror-like metallic coating that has high reflectivity (more than 95% in infrared) and good thermal stability (up to 500°C in air for 300 hours). Applied at room temperature by a PVD (plasma vapor deposition) process (under vacuum), it can be deposited on metallic, ceramic or glass substrates. The coating performance has been tested on a laboratory level.
